A partitioned hard drive has many advantages, but you may not think so if one of the partitions runs out of storage space. If cleaning up the partition is not enough, then you should resize it. Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Home Edition gives you the possibility of reallocating free space between partitions, creating new partitions and much more. Besides managing disk space, you can perform a wide range of operations on your hard drive, like wiping the free space, defragmenting, changing volume labels and drive letters or performing surface tests.

The software is available in multiple versions, for various business types. Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Home Edition is free for personal use. It can be downloaded and installed in no time and you can use it on Windows XP or any later version. The software provides support for 32-bit operating systems, as well as 64-bit editions and its hardware requirements are modest.

The main user interface displays a list of local and removable drives and a series of graphical representations of the free and used space, for each partition. The operations which can be performed on a selected partition are listed on a panel, on the left side of the interface. Different options are made available, depending on the selected partition. For example, you will find fewer options if you select a USB flash drive.

Reallocating free disk space is quite easy. The operation can be performed on a small window, which displays the free and used space, for each partition, as colored bars, just like on the main interface. A larger bar is displayed for the targeted partition and you can unallocate its free space by typing specific values in Megabytes. Alternatively, you can resize the colored bar, by clicking and dragging its edges.

Unassigned disk space is displayed like a regular partition, but with different colors and markings. You can use this space or part of it to create new partitions or assign it to an existing partition, using the same volume resizing tool. If you decide to create a new partition, you can choose its drive letter, type a volume label, set its file system to FAT or NTFS and make its volume type logical or primary.

The best part is that your modifications will not take effect immediately. You can resize your partitions, create new ones and perform other actions, without affecting the actual drives. Performed actions are listed beneath the operations panel and you can undo them at any time. If you are satisfied with your configurations, you may click the Commit option, located on a toolbar, to execute the pending operations.

Pros

The software makes it very easy to manage the free space on a hard disk. You can reallocate free space between partitions or use it to create new partitions. Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Home Edition supports FAT and NTFS file systems and it is compatible with all popular Windows platforms.

Cons

There are no serious disadvantages to mention. Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Home Edition gives you full control over the free space on your hard drive. If you are note satisfied with your hard drive's partitioning, you can modify it anyway you want, with this powerful and efficient tool.
